Course content
Main topics: 1. Introduction to the archaeology of the Early Modern Age (definition, condition, goals and prospects of the discipline). 2. Modern Age landscape and settlement. 3. Rural settlements, homestead, house; agriculture and non-agricultural production. 4. Elite dwellings. 5. Urban environment. 6. Economic activities of cities. 7. Sacral architecture and burial. 8. Mining and processing of raw materials. 9. Communication and trade. 10. Fortification. 11. Archaeology of conflicts of the Early Modern Age (battlefields, field fortifications and other material evidence of war events). 12. Historical archaeology at the intersection of scientific disciplines.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 39 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 15 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 50 hours per semester

To interpret the artefacts forming the basic part of material culture in the monitored periods functionally
