Course content
Basic topics: 1. Selected thematic areas and perspectives of study of contemporary archeology related to medieval and modern settlements and landscapes 2. Introduction to historical geography and settlement history 3. Sources for the study of medieval settlement and landscape (archaeological, written, linguistic, cartographic, iconographic, numismatic, natural history) 4. Possibilities and limits of reconstruction maps of medieval settlements and landscapes 5. Sources for the study of the early and later Modern Age landscape (possibility of using cartographic, iconographic and pictorial sources) 6. Components of the Modern Age cultural landscape 7. Web applications, digital map collections, digital humanities approach 8. Creation of map outputs in geographic information systems and their graphic presentation
