Course content
Basic topics: 1) Basic characteristics of the Neolithic 2) Neolithic revolution and the spread of the Mesolithic 3) Relationship with Mesolithic populations 4) Agriculture and subsistence 5) Residential areas and forms of settlement 6) Burial rites 7) Supra-community areas-rondels 8) Violence and warfare in the Neolithic 9) Exploitation of raw materials and long-distance contacts 10) Clothing, costume and identity 11) Neolithic society

  • Contact hours - 39 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 15 hours per semester

To summarize of the chronology of Neolithic in Bohemia and Central Europe
To summarize the issue of archaeological resources and their importance for understanding and reconstructing of life conditions in the Bohemian Neolithic, and, partially, in Europe
To summarize the status of preserved immovable monuments of the monitored period
To summarize material culture in the Bohemian Neolithic
To have an overview of settlement strategies of individual archaeological cultures
To give examples of symbolic human behaviour in the Neolithic, and its archaeologically intelligible manifestation
To characterize the source base for the observed period
