Course content

Basic topics: 1. Definition of the field 2 The basic categories of sources, their nature, telling power and limits, exhaustiveness. 3. Differences in the study of the past on the basis of different historical sources, their reflection in historical heritage 4. Differences in the study of living and extinct culture, interdisciplinary cooperation 5. Characteristics of various information sources (literature, maps with specialized content, databases, 3D visualizations, etc.), their evaluation and critical use; differences between general sources (especially on the Internet) and specialized text 6. Basic types of professional texts: monographs and chapters in monographs, articles in periodicals, articles in proceedings, critical exhibition catalogue, information and evaluation of professional literature (annotation, report, review); annotation, working with professional text 7. Internet sources and critical evaluation of sources 8. ethics in professional and scientific work, original and adopted data and information, citation of sources. 9 Critical analysis, evaluation and use of professional text 10. Presentation of the results of the study of professional texts through a seminar paper
