Course content
|
Introduction to technologically-oriented archaeology, its methods, problems, issues, potential. Visibility of the archaeometallurgical evidence. Mining archaeology, premodern technologies connected with the exploitation of raw-materials. Principles of early extractive techniques, individual methods and features used in precious and non-ferrous metallurgy, as well as in siderurgy. Smelting and final treatment of metal artefacts. Practical introduction to the classification of archaeometallurgical materials and acquaitance with basic analytical methods.
