Course content
Basic topics: 1) Archeological tranformations. 2) Systematics of archaeological sources. 3) Archeological field research as the physical analysis of sources. 4) Analysis in the laboratory; descriptive systems and their realization by databases. 5) The concept of archaeological structure, the search for structures in traditional archaeology, mathematical approach to structures. 6) Interpretation of structures. 7) The category of a living culture, archaeological model and its construction. 8) The use of models in the analysis and interpretation. 9) The interpretation of the practical function, social sigificance and symbolic sense. 10) Iterativenness of the archaeological method.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 39 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 15 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 50 hours per semester
