Course content

1. Introduction to course, history of transplantation medicine. Elemental terminology. Opportunities of immunosuppressive treatment in transplanted. 2. Organization of organ sampling and transplantations. Transplantation legislation. Ethical questions. 3. Brain death - diagnostics, criteria, pathophysiology. Care of organ donors. 4. Kidney transplantation. 5. Pancreas transplantation. Islets of Langerhans transplantation. 6. Liver transplantation. 7. Heart transplantation. 8. Lung transplantation. 9. Tissue transplantation - bone marrow, cornea, skin. 10. Excursion to the transplantation unit.
