Course content
|
1st Exercise Principles of safe work in chemical laboratory. Facilities and equipment of chemical laboratory. Types of (lab) chemical vessels and tools. Working with glass, cork and rubber. Cutting and bending glass tubes. Making capillaries, pipettes, balloons. Build a simple apparatus. 2nd Exercise Scales and weighing. Measuring of physical properties of substances. Weighing on technical and analytical balance. Determination of the weight of the object, the portion of the solids. Determination of the density of the liquid by pycnometer and hydrometers. Determination of the melting point of solids. 3rd Exercise Solutions. Preparation of solutions with desired composition. Determination of solubility of an unknown sample at various temperatures and construction of the solubility curve of the sample. 4th Exercise Basic procedures for purification and isolation of substances in chemical laboratory. Crystallization - free and disturbed. Distillation - fractional distillation and destillation by (vapour) steam. Sublimation. Drying. 5th Exercises Basic operations of volumetric analysis. Determination of composition of solution by titration. 6th Exercises Preparation, drying and storage of gases. Handling with pressure-bottles.
