1st lecture Atomic nucleus, elementary particles, stability of nuclides. Nuclear radiation, types and properties of radiation. Preparation of radionuclides, labeled compounds. Nuclear energy utilization, fission of atomic nuclei, nuclear reactors. Thermonuclear reaction, emergence of the elements in the universe. 2nd lecture Quantum mechanics and structure of the atom. Wave function and Schrödinger equation. Graphical representation of atomic orbitals. Electron spin. Multi-electron atom, Pauli's principle. 3rd lecture Chemical bond in diatomic molecules. Hydrogen molecule. MO method. Classification of molecular orbitals. Homonuclear and heteronuclear diatomic molecules. Ionic character of bonds. 4th lecture Electronic structure of polyatomic molecules. MO method. Methods and options for calculating the properties of molecules. Hybrid orbitals and geometry of molecules. Valence electron pairs repulsion. 5th lecture Delocalized bonds. Complex compounds. Theory of crystal and ligand field. Bonds in solids. Molecular, ionic and atomic crystals. 6th lecture Hydrogen bond and its occurrence in solids. Bonds in metals, band model. Nonmetals and semiconductors. 7th - 8th lecture Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with molecules. Rotational, vibrational and rotational-vibrational spectroscopy. 9th lecture Raman´s spectra. Electron spectrum, colourfulness of substances, ORD and CD curves. 10th lecture Diffraction methods (X-ray diffraction, electron and neutron radiation). 11th lecture NMR spectroscopy (1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy). 12th lecture Mass spectroscopy. 13th lecture Electrometry methods of structure study. Permittivity and dipole moments. Utilization of polarography and potentiometry in the structure study.
