Course content
|
1/ Introduction to the subject - kick off or what it will be all about The first meeting will introduce the program of individual conferences and outline why students of art fields might also be interested in applying themselves in the market. 2/ Design thinking A meaningful and proven method that puts students in control of the design process. It will help them discover meaningful customer-oriented ideas for solutions. They can use it well when negotiating with the client when compiling the assignment, and thanks to it they gain added value for the client. It can be a suitable and fun bridge between the designer and the client, it helps coordinate the creative team and safely move towards the realization of the product through prototyping and testing. 3/ Soft skills Soft skills should be part of the student's professional skills and personality. Communication skills, cooperation skills, creative and team problem-solving skills, time management, responsibility and self-control, and more are practised naturally throughout the course while working on specific tasks. 4/ It's good to have a plan Planning doesn't have to be complicated, effective things can be done simply! Students should learn to compare their thoughts - how I would ideally imagine my functioning in practice, and what simple tools will help me along the way. 5/ Finance Basic "merchant numbers" will help estimate the scope of work, and determine the hourly rate for work, the amount of the author's fee or the price of the product. When I know how much and why my time is worth, I can better argue with the client and I don't have to be afraid to ask for an appropriate financial reward. Students can draw up a budget for their project, prepare an offer for the client and learn to control the financial planning of their studio over time. 6/ Employee, freelancer or studio? Students have the opportunity to discuss and think about the models of employment and business that are suitable for them. Should I be employed or should I invoice? Or both and in what proportion? Or should I establish a studio s. r. o.? And what does owning one entail? Health and social insurance - how does it affect me and how should I deal with it? These are all questions that students will find answers to. 7/ Lean canvas A lean canvas is a simplified business plan on a single side of paper. It will provide students with a comprehensive view of their creative business ideas. It will help them understand how a business model works and clarify what it consists of. So I know what I offer, to whom, why and how I have the opportunity to make money. 8/ Reflection and evaluation The final lesson will summarize and frame the knowledge and experience gained during the entire cycle, both from the pedagogical leadership and from the students. Feedback, reflection and evaluation of the entire process are important points to fulfil the objective of the course.
