Lectures 1. Introduction to the field of balneology and balneotherapy. 2. Main general principles for balneotherapy and hydrotherapy. 3. - 4. General effects of balneology - effects of a total water bath, overview of physiological effects of baths, mechanical and chemical effects of a total bath. 5. - 6. Traditional spa procedures. 7. Natural mineral waters - definition, effects. 8. Natural mineral waters - division and classification of natural mineral waters. 9. Source gas - definition, mechanism of action, clinical application, subcutaneous insufflation. 10. Peloids - definition, mechanism of action, clinical effects. 11. Climate, climatic conditions suitable for treatment. 12. Effective complexes of climatic influences. 13. Climate therapy - conditions, characteristics, effects of individual components on a person. 14. Inhalation treatment with natural mineral water. 15. General rules of drinking treatment. Exercises 1. Baths, general data of operating principles - full and partial baths, semi-baths, sitz baths. 2. Whirlpool baths, bubble baths, underwater massages. 3. Classical hydrotherapy according to Niepel. 4. Peloid, gas, air, steam baths. 5. Traditional balneology procedures - wiping, washing, brushing, wraps. 6. Priessnitz procedures, wraps. 7. Kneipp treatment. 8. Showers, sprays. 9. - 10. Ways of applying natural mineral waters. 11. Source gas. 12. Peloids. 13. Climate therapy. 14. Inhalation treatment with natural mineral water. 15. Drinking cure.
