Course content
|
Internal environment of the body - total body water, body fluids, blood and first aid for bleeding. Immune system issues, vaccinations and first aid for shock. Cardiovascular system - cardiac parameters, effect of physical activity on cardiac function, measurement of resting/exercise BP and TF, simple field stress tests. Respiratory system - respiration + ventilation, ventilation parameters, possibilities of influencing tidal volumes through physical activity. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Digestive system - mechanical + chemical digestion, physiology of nutrient absorption, issues of sports nutrition and dietary supplements. Substance and energy metabolism. Excretory system - drinking regime of the athlete. Skin structure and function, thermoregulation. First aid - burns. Endocrinology - metabolic control, overview and function of endocrine glands, obesity and diabetes mellitus in relation to physical activity. Nervous control - CNS + peripheral nervous system - somatic and autonomic control. First aid in epileptic seizure. Physiology of the musculoskeletal system, problems of muscle contraction, reflex control. Applied physiology of motor activities.
