Course content
1. Pathophysiology of pain - biochemical principles of pain formation, transmission of pain through individual levels of the peripheral and central nervous system. Peripheral and central mechanisms of pain. Endogenous opioids. 2. Types of pain - according to origin, duration, localization. Assessment and nature of pain. 3. Pain - deafferentation pain (anesthesia dolorosa), phantom pain, thalamic, root pain. 3. Pain - visceral, psychogenic, dysautonomic, neuropathic, transferred. 4. Pharmacotherapy of pain. 5. Affecting the sensitivity of nocisensors. Suppression of pain at the spinal level. 6. Thalamo-cortical level of pain influence. Affective influence of pain - hypothalamolimbic system. 7. Pain modulation 8. Pain pattern in oncological patients. 9. Principles of pharmacotherapy - current vs chronic pain 10. Vertebrogenic pain - nociceptive type, neuropathic type, psychogenic type, mixed type. 11. Non-pharmacological non-invasive pain management techniques. Placebo effect.
