Lectures 1. The history of prosthetics from the Napoleonic Wars to the present, the development of individual equipment. 2. Division of amputations into congenital defects, traumatic and planned. Differences of these groups in later prosthetic equipment. Early prosthetics by the interim method, the role of the first equipment for modelling the amputation stump, prevention of flexion contractures. 3. Amputation techniques, effect of secondary disease on stump healing, phantom pain and basic care of the amputation stump. 4. Basics of verticalization, walking with the aid of a cane, Canadian crutches and French canes. 5. Feet with ankle joint motion, SACH type, dynamic feet, special feet. Different phases of the step. 6. Tubular skeletons, basic modular models for building prostheses, 7. Classification system taking into account the weight of the patient's physical activity. 8. Factors preventing the use of the prosthesis, special equipment respecting the flexion position, orthoprostheses 9. Bilateral amputations, method of determining body height, complications of equipment, coupling of fixation bandages. 10. The role of closure at the knee and elbow joint for prosthesis work. 11. Special equipment for sports, swimming prostheses. Changes in the elbow of persons using prostheses. Practicals 1. Amputation prostheses in the leg, Pyrogov, Chopart, syma I and II, construction of shield prosthesis, carbon plate on the plantar 2. Very long tibial amputation stump, adjustment of the prosthetic foot, fitting of the prosthesis, 3. Standard calcaneal stump, silicone sleeve, pressure distribution in the stump bed. 4. Ultra-short Berzer stump, use of thigh sleeve, flexion limitation 5. Exarticulation at the knee joint, stump bed special modelling. 6. Femoral prosthesis for very long amputation stump, special knee joints 7. Standard femoral prosthesis, silicone bearing, ISNY system, stump bed with a recessed hump. 8. Very short femoral stump, use of a soft and rigid cross to hold the prosthesis in place. 9. Hip exarticulation, prosthetic fittings, specifics for gait training 10. Hemipelvectomy, method of prosthetic fitting 11. Coping with activities of daily living, driving motor vehicles with prosthesis.
