Lectures 1. Introduction to psychosomatics - definition and history of psychosomatics, the importance of psychosomatic approaches in medicine, basic terms and concepts 2. Biopsychosocial model of health - interaction between biological, psychological and social factors, examples of application of the model in practice, criticism and limitations of the model 3. Stress and its effect on health - definition and types of stress, physiological and psychological reactions to stress, long-term consequences of stress on health 4. Psychosomatic disorders - classification and examples of psychosomatic disorders, diagnostic methods, case studies 5. The role of emotions in psychosomatics - the influence of emotions on physical health, mechanisms of connection between emotions and physical symptoms, emotional regulation and its importance 6. Psychoneuroimmunology - the relationship between the nervous, immune and endocrine systems, the influence of psychological factors on the immune response, research and clinical applications 7. Psychosomatics in clinical practice - diagnosis and treatment of psychosomatic diseases, interdisciplinary approach, case studies and practical examples 8. Psychotherapeutic approaches in psychosomatics - cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness and relaxation techniques 9. The role of lifestyle and prevention - the importance of a healthy lifestyle, prevention of psychosomatic diseases, patient education 10. The future of psychosomatics - new research and trends, integration of psychosomatics into health care, challenges and perspectives Exercises 1.
