Course content
1) Ancient sources of medieval philosophy and translatio studiorum 2) Christianity and philosophy (New Testament corpus, Church Fathers, patristics, Boëthius) 3) The Chartres and Saint-Victor schools 4) Eleventh-century philosophy (Laon school, Le Bec school) 5) Twelve-century philosophy (Abélard and the philosophical schools of the twelfth century) 6) Early thirteenth-century philosophy, the older Franciscan school, reception of Arabic philosophy 7) Albert the Great and Thomas Aquinas (overview of Albertism, Thomism, and the German Dominican tradition) 8) Henry of Ghent, John Duns Scotus, and Scotism 9) Ockham, Ockhamism, Buridanism 10) The Merton School, Nicholas Oresme 11) Wycliffe, Wycliffism, Hussitism 12) Late Medieval Scholasticism and an overview of Second and Third Scholasticism
