explain important cultural and historical periods of English-speaking countries to the 18th century with respect to Great Britain (e.g. the transformation of English society as a result of the Norman occupation, the English Renaissance, the Elizabethan period, the English society of the 17th century, the cultural flourishing during the House of Stuart, the Restoration in the Stuart Period, the Enlightenment, etc.)
characterize leading figures of British and American art, music and culture
describe important cultural and historical epochs of Anglophone countries in the 19th century with respect to Great Britain (e.g. Romanticism x Industrial Revolution, Victorian Britain, etc.) and 20th and 21st centuries
