Course content
|
Lectures: Earth as a object of study of geography, history of the geography as a scientific discipline, present position of geography in the system of science; Earth as a planet of Solar System, cosmological hypothesis, cosmological hypothesis, genesis and position of Earth in the Space, shape of the Earth and historical view on it; Geographical coordinates, calculation on terrestrial globe and topographical survey, spherical trigonometry, coordinate systems, using of compass, clinometer and GPS, map; Earth movements, seeming movements of celestial bodies; Geographical aspects of Earth, Sun and Moon movements; Time and its measurement, calendars, longitude measurement; Reference surfaces of the Earth and use for mapping; Selected coordinate systems and cartographic projections; Principles of cartographic projections and cartographic deformations; Seminars: Geographical calculations (e.g. spheric calculations, astronomical coordinates, time), creation and using of map and basic geographical tools (compass, clinometer, GPS).
