Course content
Weeks 1 - 13 Visual treating of the text, structure, nature and use of fonts. Transforming visual integration of text in response to changing styles and progress in technologies. Working with manuscripts, print fonts classification. Combination of fonts, suitable and unsuitable. Typesetting, typesetting pattern, periodic and non-periodic printed matter: books, magazines. Line gauge system. Important personalities of international and Czech typeface design. Follow-up - individual project, implemented in the form of a poster. Joint project - poster, A3 size.

to compare and analyze different artistic expressions by criteria of esthetics, semiotics and technique on basic level , to specify basic knowledge of supporting arts disciplines , to know basic usage of characters and their form, to recall basic knowledge of font signs, their elements and usage,

to realize own vizual expression in suitable way including its text part, to show own creativity on generally assigned task, to show the will to find different artistic solutions, alter them and constructivelly evaluate, to work independently and in a team activelly and flexibly react to evaluating commentary of the teacher, to keep the deadlines, to lead a conversation and to develop factic consequences out of it,

of drawing principles and construction elemenst of font characters, of historical contexts of historical evolution on Roman lyrics and Roman typefaces and alication of this classification, of important czech and international font creators,

characterize various historical periods, name key persons in typeface design, to understand and master classification of constructed fonts, to use construction elements of font characters in own creative work, to apply basic typographical rules and combination of fonts, line gauge system, to master proofreading marks, to select and process visual signs in a semantically bound project, to work with typesetting pattern in the frame of the mirror,
