Course program: 1. Ancient historiography 2. Basic overview of the historiographical production of the European Middle Ages 3. Humanistic historiography, the emergence of a new paradigm 4. Critical historiography in 17th century. Vico and his model of history 5. Enlightenment conception of human history, 6. Romantic historiography 19th century, historicism, German classical period. L. Ranke. Palacký 7. The advent of positivism in historiography. Goll School 8. Historiography at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, economic and social history, cultural historiography, 2nd generation of the Goll´s School 9. Annales School 10. Marxist historiography 11. Czech historiography in the 20th century 12. New trends in historiography, microhistory, prosopography, history of everyday life, gender history, historical anthropology, postmodern historiographic skepticism.
