Lectures: 1) The overall auxiliary historical sciences. 2) Paleography I (the subject of study, development of the topic, basic concepts) 3) Paleography II (writing substance and writing utensils) 4) Palaeography III (abbreviations, ligatures, numerals, punctuation) 5) Palaeography IV (developeent of fonts until the Middle Ages) 6) Palaeography V (fonts in modern times) 7) Palaeography VI (fonts on Czech territory) 8) Palaeography VII (historical guide to teaching writing) 9) I Chronology (subject of study, field development, basic concepts) 10) Chronology II (development of the Christian calendar) 11) Chronology III (developement of time units: the era, the beginning of the year, month, days of the week) 12) Chronologie IV (historical dating methods) Exercises: 1) Paleographical quiz, basic shapes of letters different from the current 2) Reading of modern examples of printed fonts I (18th century) 3) Reading printed writing samples from 15 and 16 century. 4) Reading examples of medieval writing I (calligraphic manuscript) 5) Reading examples of medieval script II (cursory handwriting) 6) Reading examples of medieval font III (instrument) 7) Reading examples of bastards (calligraphic manuscript list) 8) Reading examples of bastards (Urban Books) 9) The transfer of dates I (Roman dating) 10) Transfer of dates (dating by solid Christian holidays) 11) Transfer of dates III (dating by moving Christian holidays) 12) Credit test

| Graduate understood terminology and uses it correctly explain the development of Latin script and the development of calendars, dates and other time units and concepts. Reads the Czech written texts in Gothic script, Bastard and early neo-Gothic font and chronological tables converted using various methods of dating earlier on today. These specific skills apply not only to their own historical research, but also didactics in teaching at school. |
