Course content
1. Basic terminology: nation, ethnic group, national minority, patriotism, patriotism, nationalism, multiculturalism, globalization, etc. 2. Jewish-Christian foundations of national identity. 3. Bohemia under the reign of the last members of Premyslid dynasty and their cultural and ethical link to the present. 4. Luxemburg dynasty on the Czech throne and their cultural and ethical link to the present. 5. Charles IV. and his historical significance. 6. Hussite period from socio-cultural point of view. 7. George of Podebrady, House of Jagellons on the Czech throne. 8. Bohemia under the rule of the first Habsburgs, the Uprising of Czech Estates, Czech lands after the Peace in Westphalia in 1648. 9. Bohemia in the 19th century, the emergence of civil society. 10. First World War, First Republic. 11. Second World War, the specifics of development of the Czech Lands. 12. Key milestones in Czech history since 1945 - totalitarian period.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 4 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 30 hours per semester
