Course content

In Dissertation Seminar 2, methodological, substantive and formulation issues arising from the preparation of dissertations are still discussed in detail: 1. Citation, paraphrase and the actual text based on the study and elaboration of the literature. The question of the scientific contribution of the compilation. The dissertation as a combination of careful heuristics and intellectual performance. 2. Thesis and bibliographic standards. 3. Scientific hypothesis and its verification. Thesis of the topic. 4. The course of the defence, the technique of the actual presentation before the defence committee. 5. Dissertation projects in music pedagogy 1 (about 5 standard pages of text) with discussion of all students on the content, methodological and formal issues of the presented text. 6. Dissertation projects in music historiography 1 (approx. 5 standard pages of text) with discussion of all students on content, methodological and formal issues of the presented text. 7. Dissertation projects in music aesthetics or other discipline of musicology 1 (approx. 5 standard pages of text) with discussion of all students on the content, methodology and formal issues of the presented text. 8. Thesis projects in music theory 1 (approx. 5 standard pages of text) with discussion of all students on the content, methodology and formal issues of the text presented. 9. Code of ethics. Plagiarism in university publishing. Authorship and co-authorship of a scientific text. Cooperation with the supervisor. Priorities in music scientific research. 10. Editor and text. 11. RIV, RUV, RILM, RISM, Music Index, world impacted journals in the field of musicology, Czech peer-reviewed music science periodicals (Musební věda, Musicalia, Hudební výchova, Opus musicum, Musicologica Brunensia and Musicologica Olomucensia). 12. Final editing and proofreading of the scientific text. Discussion of all seminar members is guided by the seminar's supervising teacher.
