Course content
Contents of lectures: Methodology of subject. General Characteristics and Function of Nonartistic Music (NAH). Division of NAH. Terminology. European development of NAH until meeting with jazz. Development of NAH in the Czech Republic. Jazz - characteristic. Basic characteristic of musical-expression means of jazz with emphasis on the kinetic component. Folklore departments of African-American music. Developing stages of jazz - marching jazz, chicago style. Development stages of jazz - New York, swing. Development stages of jazz - be bop. Development stages of jazz - cool jazz, west coast jazz, third stream, hard bop, soul jazz. Development stages of jazz - free jazz, jazz rock, contemporary jazz Modern popular music - characteristic. Country music, rhythm. The two-hour teaching block includes a seminar and its topic is a content-formal analysis of examples of non-artistic music and its cultural and social context.

Define the basic methodology of nonartificial music.
Define the basic notions of nonarticular music.
To distinguish and identify the basic stages of the development of jazz and popular music based on listening.
To characterize the individual stages of jazz and popular music development (into rhythm and blues) and to chronologically include them.
To apply acquired expertise in the following subjects, especially in Didactics of HV.
Skills
Discover the basic features of jazz and popular music.
Analyze on the basis of listening to the main piece of nonartificial music and include them in developmental stages.
Assess the quality of music production of popular music and jazz so that they can explain the issue to pupils at elementary and secondary schools.
To independently analyze and interpret the selected composition in line with the needs of school practice.
