Course content
1.-2. February 1948, takeover by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia 3.-4. The strengthening of totalitarian power, political processes - its structure, affected groups 5.-6. Nationalization and collectivization 7.-8. Anti-communist resistance and other strategies of civil resistance 9.-11. Inconsistent processes in the Czech and Slovak society in the sixties, Cultural relaxing and attempts to political and economic reforms which culminated in the events known as the Prague Spring 12. Conclusion

learning outcomes
Students will create an overview of events in Czechoslovakia during 1948-1968 and evaluate the impact of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia on social and cultural development of Czechoslovak society. They will bring into context the political processes of the 50th years and anti-communist resistance. They will recognize and formulate the causes of Prague Spring.
