Course content
1.-2. Prague Spring, the invasion of the armies of Warsaw Pact 3.-5. Normalization, party purges and persecutions, society 6.-7. Dissident movement and performance of Charter 77 8.-9. 80 thies, the beginnings of economic difficulties and phenomena of crisis 10.-11. The collapse of the totalitarian regime, year 1989, Veltve Revolution 12. Conclusion

learning outcomes
Students will create a summary of the major events in Czechoslovakia during 1969-1989. They will analyze the impact of normalization on the social and cultural development of Czechoslovak society and bring the dissident movement in context with socio-cultural and political changes in society. Students will evaluate the impact of the Soviet perestroika on collapse of a totalitarian regime.
