Selected topics: Theory: 1.)reception of the others, stranger as an enemy or as a guest; picture of ancestral enemy, forming of ethnic stereotypes 2.) ethnicity, nation, national identity 3.)theory of formation of nation, definition a classification of nationalism 4.) conflict: classification, causes, escalation of the conflict, safety dilemma, superpower dimension 5.) dipsertion and migration, classification of ethnopolitical groups and theirs claims, minority rights, asylum politics 6.) genocide, ethnocide 7.) mediation, solution of the conflicts, future prognosis Selected case studies

learning outcomes
Students will create a list of ethnic conflicts. Further they will recognize and formulate the most frequent causes of ethnic conflict and bring the context of ethnic conflicts and internal political situation of countries in which their take place. They will compare the development and progress of ethnic conflicts and assess the impacts of ethnic conflict on minority populations.
