| A student may take the State Final PhD Exam the Thesis Defence after he/she has met all requirements given in the curriculum design of the History study field set up by the Department of Historical Sciences and all rules contained in the Study and Examination Statute of the University of West Bohemia. |

| Successful completion of the PhD exam demonstrates that students acquired sufficient knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the requirements of the History study field. After graduation students are well informed of key problems of the field and they are able to continue in the further research work. |
