Course content
The course focuses on the following areas: relationship between man and technical systems; significant turning points in the development of engineering; importance of technology for the development of human civilization as well as of each individual; levels of human knowledge; dependence of man on technical systems; links and interaction between technical development and man's humanization; survey of the fundamental technical fields and typical technical systems including their purposes, characteristic functions and parts; history of technology as a source of knowledge, experience and inspiration; present state and trends in technical development. Weekly lecture contents: 1. Introduction, aim of the subject, conditions for granting credit. Inventions and discoveries that can change the world. Home appliances for 2020 ... It goes without air. Eternal tire is here! 2. History and present of rail vehicles and development of rail transport. Invited lecture. Lecturer from the field of rail vehicles. 3. Human and technical systems (TS). Influence of TS on human development. Overview of some TS and their development over time. 4. History and present of forming machines. Development of forming technologies. Invited lecture. Lecturer from the field of forming machines. 5. Intellectual development of humanity. Prosperity of the trade and transport development. Mining and processing of raw materials. Use of metals. Mayans - advanced civilization, sophisticated calendar, prophecy 6. Egypt. Technical parameters of Cheops pyramid. Sewer systems in Sumerian cities. The main food article "beerbread" (beer). 7.
