Course content
The course focuses on the following areas: Historical development of machines and of industrial design; machines from the viewpoint of their properties; man - machine - working environment system; principles of machine design; constructional creativity; principles of industrial design (aesthetic, environmental, psycho-sociological, ergonomic); This course is intended for students studying either bachelor specialization "Industrial Design" or "Industrial Design" certificate at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Students are prepared for the certificate program final project (KKS/ZPD). Topics of lectures in weeks: 1. Introduction; historical development of machines and industrial design 2. Historical development of machines and industrial design 3. Man - machine - working environment system 4. Technical aesthetics; definition of industrial design 5. Principles of industrial design 6. Principles of industrial design - aesthetic; colours - creating, purposes 7. Principles of industrial design - environmental, psycho-sociological, ergonomic 8. Perspective, elementary notions of perspective 9. Methodical workflow of industrial designers 10. Conclusion, reserved for questions and answers Videos presenting the topics covered by the course are used to complement the lectures.

To create basic design proposal of selected technical product with respect to aesthetic, ecological, psychological-sociological and ergonomic aspects
To design several variants of the design of a technical product and to select the optimal variant of the solution
To formulate problems concerning the design of a technical product
To create a design proposal of a technical product using the knowledge of Engineering Design Science
