Course content
|
The course is intended to give students a good insight into the following areas: classification of transport vehicles; road vehicles, railway vehicles, combined transport vehicles; special transport vehicles; mechanics of vehicular drives, load and performance balance; dynamics of vehicular drives; fundamentals of railway traffic mechanics; future trends in railway traffic; handling vehicles and machinery for suction, travel, unloading and loading; conveyor-belts. Lectures: 1. Generally to means of transport, classification of means of transport, their characteristics, propulsion, brakes of means of transport, energy intensity of individual modes of transport, ecology. 2. Vessels. Classification, characteristics, legislation. Organization of water transport, transport routes, ports. Navigation, meteorology. 3. Theory of navigation, resistance, stability of vessels, types of navigation. Vessel construction. Design and construction of vessels. Hull, propulsion of vessels, vessel management, other equipment. 4. Aircraft. Classification, characteristics, legislation. Navigation, air traffic, airport, navigation task. 5. Aerodynamics. Aerodynamic forces on the profile, angle of attack, geometric and aerodynamic characteristics, finite wing wing, means for increasing buoyancy and drag. Thrust, propeller aerodynamics. Basic types of flight, range, endurance, take-off, landing. Flight performance, airplane performance diagram. Maneuvers and maneuvers, wing loads, load multiples, turns. 6. Aircraft construction. Hull, propulsion, aircraft control, other aircraft equipment. Helicopters. Principle of flight, forces on rotor, construction of main parts. 7. Cars. Classification, characteristics, legislation. Design of main vehicle parts. Traffic Safety. Road. 8. Mechanics of vehicle driving. Driving resistances, total resistance, power required, drivetrain - ideal and real driving characteristics, engine-gearbox cooperation. Wheel rolling theory, slip and slip, clean rolling, grip limits. 9. Braking of vehicles. Purpose, types of braking, braking system equipment, braking system requirements. Determination of stopping distance. 10. Rolling stock. Classification, characteristics, legislation. Design of main vehicle parts. Vehicle gauge and gauge, wheel gauge, gauge, track. 11. Basics of traction mechanics, traction resistors, traction characteristics. Braking characteristics of rail vehicles. 12. Handling technology. Classification, characteristics, legislation. Hoists and cranes, lifts, conveyors, other handling equipment. 13. Trends in transport and handling technology. Development and direction of transport.
