By this subject graduation student obtains the basic knowledges of individual methods of nondestructive testing and also the general summary of possibility use of traditional and special NDT methods in many industrial segments. By this subject graduation will student improve knowledge concerning material structure gained by previous studies because the most important accent is put to possibility use NDT methods for inner structure materials detection. During the practical project student will try the individual work with some NDT instruments (Ultrasonic testing, Magnetic particle (leakage field) testing, Liquid penetrant testing). Lecture topics: 1. Problems of measurement errors 2. Light microscopy - basic laws, use in practice 3. The use of image analysis, quantitative metallography 4. Basic laws of diffraction 5. Introduction to electron microscopy 6. Scanning electron microscopy 7. Scanning electron microscopy - practical examples of its use 8. Fundamentals of microanalysis 9. Transmission electron microscopy 10. X-ray diffraction 11. Surface analysis 12. Phase transitions 13. Complex metallographic analysis
