Course content
The course focuses on advanced welding methods; diffusion welding, explosion welding and friction welding and so on. Attention is also paid to the welding and repairing of constructional ceramics parts, thermal spray coatings and weld surfacing technologies, plasma arc cutting, laser and electron beam technologies for surface treatment. Advanced technologies of surfacing. Industry application samples. Overview of lecture topics: 1. Special methods of arc welding. 2. Diffusion, explosion, friction welding. 3. Welding structural ceramics. 4. Renovation technology by creating thermal sprays and coatings. 5. Special methods of welding and plasma cutting. 6. Special methods of metal processing by laser and electron beam. 7. Alternative welding methods. 8. Examples of welding practice technologies. 9. Use of laser and electron beam. 10. Water jet cutting. 11. Methods of straightening the weldment. 12. Numerical simulation of the welding process I. 13. Numerical simulation of the welding process II

Knowledge
Knowledge of welding theory and technology is required.
Studen mastered the basics of material science and the structure of metals, knows the principles of heat treatment and metallurgy of welds.

The student should be able to choose the right welding technology.
