Course content
1. Introduction. 2. Definition, subject and system of the Public International Law. 3. Sources of the Public International Law. 4. Subjects of the Public International Law. 5. Legal regulation of the relationship between the Czech national law and International law in the Czech legal system. 6. Comparison of the legal regulation of the relationship between the National and International Law in the legal systems of selected states (Great Britain, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Austria). 7. International treaties and international customs. 8. Basic principles of the International law and UN Charter. 9. Right for self-determination of peoples. 10. Protection of the Human Rights since 1996. 11. Statute of the International Court of Justice. 12. Council of Europe and protection of minorities. 13. International Law Commission. 14. Peaceful settlement of disputes between the European states. 15. Summary.

The student will be able to understand: 1. Legal English terminology in the field of the International Law, 2. Relationship between the National and International Law, 3. Basic principles of the contemporary International Law, 4. Legal regulation of relationship between the individual subjects of the International Law, 5. International legal system of the Protection of Human Rights, 6. Importance of discipline of the Public International Law.

Student bude rozumět odborné anglické mezinárodněprávní terminologii, vztahu mezi vnitrostátním a mezinárodním právem, základním zásadám soudobého mezinárodního práva, právní regulaci vztahů mezi jednotlivými subjekty mezinárodního práva, mezinárodněprávnímu systému ochrany lidských práv, významu vědního oboru Mezinárodní právo veřejné.
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to: 1. Explain basic terms of the International Law in English language, 2. Distinguish sources of the International Law, 3. Define boundaries of validity of the International Law, relationship between the International and National Law, subject, concept of sovereignty, moment of formation and dissolution of states and state liability under the Public International Law, 4. Understand the International Law in the context of Protection of Human Rights under the International Law, 5. Use Legal English terminology in the field of the International Law.
