Course content
List of tasks, 10 out of which will be selected: 1. Measurement of Curie temperature in ferromagnetics 2. Measurement of Verdet constant in liquids 3. Measurement of losses in transformer sheets by means of a large Epstein's apparatus 4. Measurement of magnetic induction of the earth magnetic field 5. Measurement of magnetic susceptibility of paramagnetics and diamagnetics by means of Gouy's method 6. Representation of hysteresis loop in ferromagnetics by means of an oscilloscope 7. Study of permanent magnet properties 8. Measurement of magnetic susceptibility of non-conducting paramagnetics 9. Measurement of magnetostriction 10. Verification of Amper's law by means of current weighing apparatus 11. Composition of harmonious oscillations on an oscilloscope 12. Analog computer modelling of processes changing in time 13. Measurement of speed of sound in the air by means of the resonance method 14. Measurement of metal resistivity 15. Measurement of loss factor and permittivity in solid dielectrics 16. Electromagnetic centimeter waves.

Laboratory work

Knowledge
The students should have mastered basic facts about magnetism, oscillations and wave motion at the level of basic university course in general physics.
learning outcomes
The students will master basic measuring methods and practical tasks in magnetism, oscillations and wave motion, they will be able to use appropriate specialised measuring instruments, process the measurements and evaluate their errors.
