Introduction to the historical development of the profession of midwifery. Significant midwives. Comparison of training of midwives - in the past and today. Comparison of competencies of midwives - in the past and today. Comparison of professional organizations for midwives - in the past and today. Transformations of the professional relationship between midwife and obstetrician. Important historical documents and literary sources in midwifery practice. Reading of historical sources. Visit to the National Library in Prague.
