Course content
Multicultural education in the system of pedagogical disciplines, goals, current topics and possibilities for implementing multicultural education and education in the school environment (current trends in a global context). Clarification of central concepts: culture and its basic attributes, the process of enculturation, acculturation, identity, ethnicity, nation, gender, etc. Issues of prejudices, stereotypes and the possibility of their elimination. Area of intercultural communication - verbal, non-verbal aspects, area of communication etiquette, influence of culture on upbringing and education. Principles of working with cultural diversity - support for multilingual pupils. Intercultural competence and the possibilities of their development, the role of the teacher when working with multicultural topics. Means, methods of multicultural education and their evaluation, real possibilities of working with topics of a multicultural nature in the environment of specific schools and educational institutions. Discussion of existing multicultural education programs (programs prepared by state and non-profit organizations)

to describe and explain the core concepts and theoretical foundations and approaches of multicultural issues (culture, ethnicity, gender and its influence on pupil's personality development, prejudices and stereotypes, intercultural communication concepts etc.)
To be oriented in basic curricular documents, regarding the definition and implementation of multicultural education in teaching process
to understand the current Czech and international trends in multicultural education (based on study of literature and knowledge of current programs and projects of governments and NGOs)

To use a suitable multicultural topics in lessons primary education.
To find and use appropriate methods and tools in implementation of multicultural education in primary education.
