Course content
1. Mental disorders and their etiopathogenesis. 2. Periodization of mental development and its varieties. 3. Disorders of cognitive functions. 4. Psychological aspects of ADHD, DMO, and epilepsy. 5. Pervasive developmental disorders in childhood. 6. Affective disorders. 7. Reactive disorders - Posttraumatic stress disorder. 8. Obsessive compulsive disorder, OCD. 9. Depressive syndrome; Suicidal Behaviour. 10. Neurotic disorders; Eating disorders. 11. Personality disorders. 12. Mental deprivation. 13. Psychosis.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 40 hours per semester

- explain the basic concepts of general and developmental psychology,
- characterize psychological phenomena and personality structure,
- describe the difficult life situations, their causes and ways of dealing with them.

- apply knowledge from general, developmental and social psychology to teaching practice.

- describe apparent manifestations of eating disorders and mental deprivation in children,
- characterize ADHD, DMO, epilepsy,

- describe the specifics of pathological emotionality and neurotic disorders in children.

- assess the possibilities of the detective and supporting role of the teacher,
- specify requirements for the educational process of children with mental disorder,
- to evaluate the role of pedagogical assistant in teaching,
- apply adequate forms of dealing with pupils with mental disorder.
