Course content
1. General issues of psychology, methods of psychological research. 2. Classification of psychological phenomena, psychological states, processes, properties. 3. Basic issues of development, mechanisms of variability of psychological development. 4. Cognitive processes and their development in the preschool child. Piaget's theory of developmental stages and related experiments. Issues of the preconcept. 5. Sensory processes and perception. Methods of perceptual development in preschool children. 6. Imagination and fantasy. Imagination in preschool age. Basic mathematical imagination of the preschool child. Mentalization theory and key mental modalities - the relationship between the pretend modality (key to imagination), the reflective modality (key to understanding) and the act of mentalizing (understanding). 7. Memory and attention. Specifics of memory and attention in preschool age. Methods of developing memory (visual) and attention in preschool children. 8. Thinking. Development of thinking in preschool age. 9. Speech as a tool of thinking. Development of speech in preschool age. 10. Emotionality of the preschool child. 11. Developmental disorders and their causes. 12. Development of the child with ADHD. 13. Development of the child with DMO.

- dokáže vysvětlit princip konzervace a egocentrismu v rámci Piagetových experimentů u dětí předškolního věku.
- define mental processes, states, properties
- explain the functioning of individual cognitive processes in preschool children
- define mechanisms of variability in psychological development
- describe the development of speech in childhood
- define childhood developmental disorders
- describe the development of a child with ADHD and DMO
- can explain the basic mathematical ideas of a preschool child,
- can explain the principle of conservation and egocentrism in Piaget's experiments with preschool children.
Skills
- recognise the individual manifestations of DMO and ADHD at different stages of development
- apply knowledge about the functioning of cognitive processes when working with children
- distinguish between quantitative and qualitative developmental disorders
- use appropriate tasks with respect to the developmental period of the preschool child to develop individual cognitive processes (memory, attention, perception, thinking),
