Course content
1. Psychology - subject, aims, methods, psychological disciplines. 2. Basic concepts of general psychology - psychic phenomena, constructs and mental representations, models of human psyche. 3. Consciousness and unconsciousness, control of the human psyche (executive functions and their disorders, will), sleep and dreaming (sleep disorders). 4. Sensory processes and perception, perceptual disorders. 5. Attention - types and properties of attention, attention disorders. 6. Memory - models of memory, long-term memory, forgetting, memory disorders. 7. Learning - innate types of learning, classical conditioning, instrumental and operant conditioning, insight learning, social learning. 8. Imaginative processes - imagination and fantasy, lucid dreaming, imagination disorders. 9. Thinking - types of thinking, thought operations, reasoning, decision making, problem solving, magical thinking, thought disorders. 10. Language and thought - properties of natural languages, thought and speech. 11. Motivation - self-preserving motives, incentive motives, implicit motives, explicit motives, complex theory of motivation, attributional theory of motivation. 12. Emotions - physical and expressive components of emotions, feeling, theories of emotions, functions of emotions, disorders of emotions.
