Course content
|
1. Role of psychology in health service. 2. Integral concept of a disease. 3. The image of psyche affected by disease. 4. Being ill and illness; auto-plastic image of the disease. 5. Coping with illness and suffering. 6. Adaptations to hospitalization, hospitalism. 7. Chronically ill patient. 8. Patient's fear and anxiety. 9. Psychology of pain. 10. Productive and non-productive behavior of a nurse. 11. Psychological guidance of the patient prior to, and after a surgery or asignificant therapy. 12. Forms of communication with ill child at a medical facility.

Students are able to: - comprehend the basic problems relating to the psychology of illness and pain, - recognize initial symptoms of patients? behavioral changes leading to deviations from standard norms of conduct and experience. - accomplish basic steps leading to behavioral stabilization and avoidance of pathological varieties. |
