Course content
1. An overview of contemporary Russian mass media, their breakdown and focus. 2. Contemporary Russian journalism (personalities, style, rules). 3. Radio, television and Internet journalism. 4. Practical analysis of publicist style. Linguistic elements of journalistic style. 5. Working with selected journalistic genres. 6. Persuasive functions of the media. Socio-political contexts in media discourse. 7. The visual component of media text, advertising text, poster, comic, collage, etc. 8. Recent vocabulary based on mediatext. 9. Analysis of the treatment of selected current journalistic topics. 10. Basics of semantic and discursive analysis of journalistic text. 11. From journalism to literature (the phenomenon of thick magazines) tradition and new approach. 12. The past and future of Russian journalism.
