Course content
|
Teaching will take place by means of consultations. 4 consultations will be organized during the semester. 1. Introduction into the issue of artistic translation, history of translation in the Czech Republic. Personalities of theory of translation (J. Levy, B. Ilek etc.) The task: Students will obtain 3 texts to translation (Pushkin: Eugene Onegin, Dostoyevsky: Crime and punishment, Bulgakov: The Master and Margarita) that had been translated by more translators. Students will compare the versions and discover the differences. 2. Phases of the translator´s work. Using different types of dictionaries. Tributary relation of the translation. Presentation of differences in translations. The task: Students compare translations of Anna Karenina (by Tolstoy) of the following translators: J. Hruby, A. Pohl, P. Kricka, T. Haskova) 3. Specific features of artistic translation, differences between artistic and scientific translation. Does the translation belong to the arts? Presentation of differences in translation of Anna Karenina. The task: Own translation of 5 pages from above mentioned texts. 4. Presentation of translation.
