Course content
1. Constition of the political anthropology as a sub-discipline in the social and cultural anthropology. Its history, terminology and paradigms. 2. Typology of political systems from the anthropological perspective. Typological approach (E. Service, M. Fried, aj.). 3. Structural-functionalist paradigm. Segmentary societies. (M. Fortes, E. E. Evans-Pritchard, etc.). 4. Movie projection and interpretation - movies: The Shilluk Of Southern Sudan and The Nuer. 5. Processual approach to the studies of political systems (M. Gluckman, E. Leach, V. Turner, F. Bailey, etc.). 6. Theory on origin of state, theory of early states (H. Claessen, P. Skalnik, A. Korotayev, etc.). 7. Political power in the correlation with social stratification and religion. Kinship and political system. 8. From colonial political anthropology to the post-colonialism. (M. Foucault, P. Bourdieu, E. Said, etc.). 9. Identity policy. Identity, ethnicity and nationalism (F. Barth, E. Hobsbawm, B. Anderson, etc.). 10. Actual themes and trends of political anthropology (gender, transnationalism, kosmopolitism, citizenship; anthropology as policy making etc.).
