1. Introduction to the issue 2. Painting and drawing as one of the first artistic expressions of man 3. Painting in ancient civilizations 4. Ancient Mediterranean and painting 5. Christianity and its concepts 6. The Middle Ages and its specifics 7. Renaissance 8. Baroque painting 9. 19th century classicism and academicism 10. Avant-garde experiments 11. Painting after the Second World War 12. Painting in contemporary art 13. Conclusion of the lecture series

Knowledge
basic types and genres of painting in individual historical periods, important areas and centers of painting production, important authors in individual stages of development, characteristic features of painting in individual stylistic stages.
Skills
classify works of painting chronologically according to the material and technique used, classify works of painting chronologically according to themes, list personalities in terms of the development of technology and style, zoom in on particular stylistic and program groupings from history, use examples to show the characteristic features of the painting style in the foci of its development, to comprehensively describe the historical development of painting in the Czech lands, formulate in your own words an opinion on the development of painting in the 20th century and on contemporary painting, trace the mutual influences between the historical centers of the development of painting, perform an analysis of the painting in terms of aesthetics and content, distinguish detailed stylistic elements on specific examples from history, compare the possibilities of painting in relation to technological knowledge in the historical period, to assess the basic contribution of significant figures in painting from the point of view of their contribution to historical and stylistic development.
