Course content
1. Introduction, characteristics and differences of Islamic law. About law schools in general 2. Sources of Islamic law 3. The origin and early development of Islamic jurisprudence, legal schools and their founders, origin and differences, their representation in the contemporary world, a brief excursion into the development of law in the Muslim world from the second half of the 19th century to the present 4. 'Ulama, Mufti and Qadi. Judgments past and present. 5.- 6. Criminal law and related areas of law 7. Introduction to questions falling in our system in the area of "private" law (entities, legal capacity, basics of contract law, gift contract) 8. The law of personal status (al-ahwal ash-shakhsiya) - family law I. 9. The right of personal status (al-ahwal ash-shakhsiya) - family law II. 10. The right of personal status (al-ahwal ash-shakhsiya) - family law III. 11. The right of personal status (al-ahwal ash-shakhsiya) - family law IV. 12. Law of personal status (al-ahwal ash-shakshiyyah) - inheritance and endowment law
