Course content
1. Introduction to the specific subject. Organisational and operational issues. Assignment of the seminar work 2. Subjective and objective factors of interpretation of a work of art, active and passive approach, the relationship between creation, interpretation and communication. 3. Morphology, grammar, space and tectonics and their transformations in modern art in comparison with previous developments. 4. Art and reality. Ways of seeing. 5. Visual literacy as a key basis for specific interpretation with didactic focus. Interdisciplinary literacy as a complex communication with reality. 6. Interpretation of a work of art as a structured process I. Focus on modern and contemporary art - Phase 1: Iconography and sociology of art. 7. Interpretation of an artwork as a structured process II. Focus on Modern and Contemporary Art - Phase II: Psy-chology of Art 8. Interpretation of artwork as a structured process III. Focus on Modern and Contemporary Art - Phase III: Structure-Turalism and Semiotics 9. Non-traditional means and techniques of expression, their causes and methods Methods of use. 10. Forms of working with artwork in and out of school a) Gallery education b) Art in public space 11. Visit and seminar in the lecturing department of the NG in the Trade Fair Palace (6 hours) 12. Problems of interpretation of postmodern and contemporary art (plurality, post-production, appropriation, simulation, etc.)

to characterize basic theories of art, visual and audiovisual culture;
to characterize some tendencies in visual arts in the past and the present.

to reveal the artistic nature of the visual effect of the visual products of the subject world of their consumer;
to interpret contemporary art and other expressions of visual and audiovisual culture;
to plan educational activities for secondary school students focused on the critical interpretation of visual and audiovisual culture.
