Course content
1. Introduction to surface art techniques. Surface art techniques in the overview. Basic means of expression - point, line, colour, light and shape in surface art 2. Approaches to surface art in art with a focus on 20th and 21st-century art. Transformations of expressive means in the history of art. Non-traditional techniques 3. Contemporary drawing, painting, and printmaking as inspiration for artistic activities. Experimental approaches of contemporary artists 4. Drawing as a basic means of recording one's own artistic ideas and developing thoughts. Sketching. Drawing experiments. The expressive potential of line 5. Local colour vs colour exaggeration. Colour experiments, exploring colour contrast, mixing new shades. Using colour to express one's own emotions and moods. Liberation of colour from seen reality 6. Traditional and non-traditional graphic techniques. E.g. playing with prints, experimenting with monotype, printing from the stencil, and printing techniques from height. Exploring graphic variations 7. Differences between figurative and non-figurative modes of representation. Discovering paths to abstraction. Transformation of visual reality 8. The action form of drawing and painting 9. Imagination and the use of fantasy imagery in representational art 10. Stylization of the figure. Creative approaches to children's illustration 11. Combining art techniques on the surface and finding a way to authentic artistic expression 12. Suggesting solutions to artistic challenges in relation to own artistic intentions. Experimental approaches to drawing, painting and printmaking and its application in kindergarten 13. Reflection on the process and resulting solutions of art tasks focused on surface creation. The contribution of surface art activities to the personal development of the child in kindergarten

to clarify some concepts, ideas and facts from the areas of art and culture;

to apply acquired knowledge about artistic expression in the interpretation of an artwork;
to verbalize and to express in a written form rexlexion of an artwork.

Knowledge
