|
Lexicology - its characteristics, disciplines and relationship between lexicology and lexicography. Semasiology and onomasiology. The term of a word and its definition. Lexicon and its elements. Definition of a lexical meaning; the term of the meaning of the word and its components. Metasemy from synchronic and diachronic points of view. Relationship between lexical units in the lexicon. Stratification in a national language and strata in the lexicon. Contemporary development trends in the lexicon. Word-formation and its basic terminology - motivation, foundation, productiveness. Onomaziological word structure. Word-forming methods and processes. Word-forming type and category. Morphemic word structure. Contemporary development trends in word-formation. Lexicography - description of the lexicon in dictionaries. Sorts and types of dictionaries and the most important dictionaries in the 19th and 20th centuries. Lexicological, word-forming and morphemic analysis and their basis and differences.
