Course content |
Lectures: 1. Literature for children and youth and its classification, child's aspect and explanation of the term of intentionality. 2. Literary genres and the ability to distinguish between them, some questions of poetics and its norms, literary work and its structure, literary work as a sign. 3. Folk literary production and its particular genres including their characteristics. 4. Fairy tales in folk literary production, the author's tale and the use of innovative methods. Authors of Czech and world literature for children and youth. Classical editions and their illustrators. 5. Folk tales, legends and biblical stories and their adaptations in LDM. Classical editions and their illustrators. 6. Fantasy literature. 7. Prose with the child as a hero. Girl and boy types of heroes in prose. 8. Adventure literature, its development and adaptations, classical works in Czech and world literature. 9. Non-fiction and its authors. 10. Poetry for children, periods of its development, modern Czech and world poetry. 11. Theatre, TV and film production for children and youth. 12. Journals and magazines for children. Seminars: Seminars correspond to the lectures and are based on interpretation of texts.

Students - distinguish between intentional and non-intentional literature for children and youth, - are aware of the genres of LDM and able to characterize their development and important authors, especially Czech, - understand the historical development of Czech LDM as well as in connection with book and graphical production, - are oriented in the classical authors' adaptations created according to original folk literary production and are able to distinguish between them and the historical pre-texts, - are able to interpret the child's aspect and its meanings in a particular book of LDM for pre-teenagers at the level of thematic and language components. |
